Coach evolved and is a gritty survivor of the crime filled streets of Urban America. ALI was reared by his hard working grand mother, aunt and mother who was plague with debilitating arthritis as a young woman. Coaches mother kept the family together as best she could. Young ALI’s father was a Muslim, Street-Hustler that maintained virtually no family contact. Determined to over come the inner city statistical odds, of poverty, jail time and early death, Asim Ali refused to give up. This insightful voice credits much to living in The Bronx, Harlem and Jamaica Queens with helping shape his artistic direction. 130th and St. Nicholas in Harlem New York is where he recorded his first demo and never looked back.
